Formation Day Celebrations of No. 6 Squadron

The No. 6 Helicopter Squadron which was inaugurated on 15th March 1993 celebrated its 20th Anniversary on 15th March 2013 giving prominence to social and religious activities with pride of its immense contribution to the success achieved during the war fought for the liberation of the motherland from terrorism.
The Formation Day working parade was held at the hangar premises and it was reviewed by Wg Cdr MASK Maheepala, the present Commanding Officer of the squadron. It was followed by blessings bestowed by the sanga and a tea party. The Base Commander of the SLAF Base Anuradhapura Gp Capt HSS Thuyacontha graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
As part of the 20th Anniversary celebration of the No 6 Squadron, a blood donation campaign was held on 06 February 2013 at SLAF Base Anuradhapura, an alms giving ceremony was held at “Ruwanweli Maha Chaithya” on 25th February 2013 and a Shramadana campaign was conducted at the “Ashaka” orphanage at Jayanthi Road, Anuradhapura on 12th March 2013. The immediate family members of the squadron personnel were hosted for a lunch on 16th March 2013 to conclude the celebrations.
