Sri Lanka Air Force Unit Batticaloa celebrated its 30th Formation Day on 27 March 2013. The Commanding Officer Wing Commander WMAB Wewegama in his address after the traditional parade expressed his gratitude to all past and present service personnel and civilians for their efforts uplift the unit. Two minutes silence was observed to honour the service and civil personnel who sacrificed their life for the motherland and thereafter blessings from the religious dignitaries of the area were obtained for the unit and to its personnel.

The Seva Vanitha Unit of the unit distributed lunch amongst 100 pregnant mothers warded at the maternity ward of the Teaching Hospital, Batticaloa. The Formation Day also included sports activities with the participation of officers, other ranks and civil staff which was followed by lunch. A musical show was conducted in the evening to conclude the celebrations.
