The ‘Gagana Viru Saviya' scholarship programme organized by the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit for the 5th successive year was held at the SLAF Trade Training School Ekala on 25th April 2013. The noteworthy feature of the programme is that the scheme is entirely sponsored by the Sri Lanka Air Force this year on the instructions given by the Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal HD  Abeywickrama.

The scholarship scheme intends to support selected students from Grade 5 till the completion of the GCE A/L and a total number of 200 children of war heroes and other personnel of the SLAF received scholarship at this ceremony.  

The Chairperson of the SLAF SVU Mrs. Neelika Abeywickrema graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The Commanding Officer SLAF TTS Ekala Group Captain P Ranasinghe and officials of the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit were also present at the ceremony.
