The SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit and the Directorate of Welfare in collaboration with the Directorate of Civil Engineering constructed a new house for retired airwoman Sergeant Swarna Kumari. The house built in a plot of land donated by the National Housing Development Authority was handed over to Sgt Kumari on 3rd May 2013 by the Minister of Construction, Engineering Services, Housing and Common Amenities Mr. Wimal Weerawansa.

The Chairperson of the SLAF SVU Mrs. Neelika Abeywickrema, Base Commander SLAF Base Ratmalana Air Commodore HMSKB Kotakadeniya and officials of the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit were also present at the ceremony.
