The introductory session on Angampora training for children of SLAF personnel was conducted on 08 May 2013 at the Ex-Servicemen Conference Hall SLAF Station Colombo. The main intention of this initiative is to promote the martial art and to inculcate a basic knowledge of the art to students studying in grades eight to twelve.  Angampora is a martial art that is indigenous to Sri Lanka and it was introduced to the SLAF recently on the directives of the Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal HD Abeywickrama.

Gp Capt CB Labrooy the Chairman SLAF Angampora did the introduction on the programme and Mr Mahanthaarachchige Ajantha Perera who has taken the responsibility of nurturing and fostering this fighting technique representing the ancestry of “Korathota Arachchi Tradition” conducted a presentation on the misty corridors of traditional Angampora that had gone in to disuse over time. Officers, other rankers and their family members were seen in participating in the event enthusiastically.
