SLAF Cyclists Take Part in The Championship of The Tour de Hiru - 2013

The SLAF team, comprising eighteen cyclist, take part in the 'Tour de Hiru' cycle race which was flagged off in front of the Air Force Rifle Green grounds at 8.30 this morning. Over 150 licensed cyclists take part in this race which is organized jointly by Hiru TV and Hiru FM to coincide with the 15th Anniversary of Hiru FM.
The SLAF is fielding the experienced LAC Buddika Warnakulasooriya; who emerged Champion of the Tour de Hiru cycle race last year, was the Champion of the Guwan Papedi Sawariya 2011, the National Champion 2012 and the present all Island ranking number one, LAC Jeewan Jayasinghe who not only has gained repute as the best sprinter was also the Champion of the Guwan Papedi Sawariya 2012 and the Champion of National Festival cycle race 2013. LAC Dane Nugera and LAC Sujith Silva too participate with much expectation after their fine performance in the past series.
The 'Tour de Hiru' race which has been organized under the supervision of the Sri Lanka Interim Cycle Committee observing all internationally accepted rules and regulations, will be conducted in two stages for 2 days. The first phase of the race covers 137 kms from Colombo to Balangoda while the second phase which covers 161 kms will start from Balangoda at 8.30 on 06th July 2013 and end in Kirindiwela.
