The final phase of the series of presentations and lectures which were organized and conducted at SLAF establishments by the Command Quality Assurance Inspectorate (CQAI) of the SLAF in parallel to the Annual audit programme and AOC’s inspections of the SLAF was conducted for the service personnel of AFHQ and SLAF Station Colombo on 11th and 12th September 2013 at the Airmen’s Mess, SLAF Station Colombo.

The presentations/lectures covered the following topics in order to improve the awareness of all personnel of the Air Force especially, for all section I/Cs on quality concepts and “5S” Good House Keeping Practices. Practical sessions also followed each presentation at the premises of Academy/Bases/Units orderly rooms after the available “5S” check list was discussed and a practical approach to “5S” practice was introduced in order to address many critical issues of the sections.
 
At present all section I/Cs and personnel of the SLAF have been made aware of these aspects and are expected to implement same in their own sections. The following areas were discussed during these workshops which were conducted on quality concepts and Safety related matters.

a. Positive attitude and discipline of service personnel.
b. What is quality and some important definitions of quality.
c. Productivity and how to improve productivity.
d. Wastes and how to eliminate wastes.
e. Good housekeeping practices through “5S” concepts.
 f. Safety and safety related matters.
