SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit Conducts Community Welfare Projects

The Chairperson of the Seva Vanitha Unit (SVU) of the Sri Lanka Air Force Mrs. Neelika Abeywickrema declared open the newly constructed Children’s Park for the Primary Medical Care Unit at Liyangahawela, Bandarawela and conducted a community project at Dikkapitiya Vidyalaya Welimada this morning, 16th September 2013.
These projects were initiated by the SVU after a long outstanding and urgent necessity was identified at these two locations. The construction of Children’s Park was completely undertaken by the SLAF Station Diyatalawa with the contribution of manpower whilst the SLAF SVU provided monetary assistance to complete the project with necessary recreational apparatus.
A set of library books worth of Rs 75000 were donated to Dikkapitiya Vidyalaya which has 192 students studying up to grade Ten. This underprivileged school had shown remarkable performance on educational and extracurricular activities in the past. It was a moment of joy for the parents and families as the little ones performed with great talent impressing the audience with a series of events. People who gathered to witness the occasion expressed their sincere gratitude to the SLAF.
