Under the guidance of the Commander of the Air Force, the Directorate of Welfare in collaboration with the Seva Vanitha Unit (SVU) of the Sri Lanka Air Force donated a new house to Mr. RPG Lakshman Rajapaksha a civil employee in the SLAF Station Sigiriya. The house warming ceremony was held in the presence of the Chairperson of SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit Mrs. Neelika Abeywickrama on 29th October 2013.

This requirement was projected by the SLAF Station Sigiriya as an urgent necessity was identified considering his extreme grievances in connection with high expenditure on treatments for his daughter  with special needs and ill spouse whilst repaying several loans he had obtained for construction of his new house despite his limited monthly income. 

The construction project was completely undertaken by the SLAF Station Sigiriya with the contribution of manpower itself and skilled labours who were attached from the Directorate of Civil Engineering whilst the Directorate of Welfare provided monetary assistance through Command Welfare and Rehabilitation Fund (CW&RF) to complete the balance construction works of the dilapidated structure which was idling for a period of time due to financial difficulties.

Director Welfare Air Vice Marshal MLK Perera, Commanding Officer SLAF Station Sigiriya CP Gunathilake, the members of the Directorate of Welfare and SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit, the Service personnel of SLAF Station Sigiriya and family members of the house owner were also present at the event.
