President Unveils a Monument to Commemorate the Final Battle

President Mahinda Rajapaksa unveiled a monument in Nandikadal lagoon in Pudumathalan, Pudukudirruppu last morning (09 December 2009) in honour of the war heroes who paid the supreme sacrifice in the final battle, to eradicate terrorism and its leadership.

Defence Secretary Gotabaya Rajapaksa,acting Chief of Defence Staff and Air Force Commander Air Chief Marshal Roshan Goonetileke, Army Commander Lieutenant General Jagath Jayasuriya, Navy Commander Vice Admiral Thisara Samarasinghe and Inspector General of Police Mahinda Balasuriya and many other senior officers representing three forces were presented at this event.
