Practical Pistol Shooting is by far the most exciting and challenging Shooting Sport in the World, as it involves high speed shooting with lightening fast reflexes and movement by the shooter to engage elusive targets, based on the principle of Diligentia, Vis, Celeritas (DVC for Accuracy, Power, Speed) that are of vital and equal importance in deciding the eventual Winner. Practical Pistol Shooting is a highly spectator orientated sport as each shooter tries to shoot faster and more accurately than the others with ammunition of the required Power Factor in order to be competitive. Practical Pistol Shooting has been in existence in Sri Lanka for the last 35 years.
Former Secretary to the Ministry of Defence Major General (Rtd) Deshamanya Ashoka Jayawardene graced the occasion as the Chief Guest whilst, Mrs. Ranjani Jayakody Director General Sports of the Ministry of Sports witnessed the finals as the Guest of Honour.
