A Different way of Celebrating Christmas
7:27pm on Thursday 19th December 2013
The Seva Vanitha Unit (SVU) of the Sri Lanka
Air Force celebrated Christmas, in a different way declaring its social
responsibility by bringing the real meaning of Christmas together with
forty differently able Women at St. Martin’s Adults home in Kotugoda
recently.
Initially, considering the dilapidated condition of the building a refurbishment program was conducted by SLAF TTS Ekala whilst the Seva Vanitha Unit provided financial assistance for the renovation and provided equipment and personal gift packs.
The Spirit of Christmas, the holy arrival of the Jesus to this world, was symbolized with Christmas decorations arranged in the home and the morning was spent with a service conducted by Rev.Fr. Jude Ranga. SLAF representatives together with the Chairperson of the Sri Lanka Air Force SVU Mrs. Neelika Abeywickrama joined with the inmates to sing carols. The inmates were also treated with a lunch.
