A Bell 412 helicopter from No. 04 Squadron at SLAF Base Ratmalana was deployed this afternoon (06th February 2014) around 2.00 pm to assist in the controlling of  a forest fire which erupted in the Nallathanniya forest in the Sri Pada area (Adam's Peak).

Using water from Maskeliya reservoir, the crew of the Bell 412 helicopter battled the fire with the aid of its under slung ‘Bambi bucket’ flying 16 consecutive sorties. The SLAF was requested to assist by the Disaster Management Center.
