They Are Not Forgotten Even After Wounded

Leading Air Craftman Nishantha who was enlisted to the SLAF January 2000, was last serving at the SLAF detachment Kappalthrei-Tricomalle, when he was a victim of an enemy Claymore mine attack on 11 April 2007. As a result he was badly wounded but worst of all he was blinded too.

Understanding the situation, the chairperson of the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit Mrs. Nelun Goonetileka took a generous decision of building a house through the “Anula Fernando Housing Project” in the area of Deraniyagala, which was donated to this war hero last morning (18 December 2009).

Assisting war heroes and people in need from the general public are the main ventures embarked upon the SLAF SVU. In accordance of this objective, the SLAF SVU has launched a number of projects in order to empower those who are genuinely in need.

The “Anula Fernando Housing Project” is one of the above projects which was launched with the prime motive of building houses for those in need. The project is also known as the “60 Day Project” as the maximum time spent to properly build a house would approximately be 02 months.
