The first leg of the Guwan Hamuda Papedi Sawariya 2014 from AFHQ Colombo to Dambulla was flagged off by the Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal Kolitha Gunatilleke this morning(20th March 2014) in front of SLAF Headquarters.

The event is sponsored by Abans Group of Companies and the media partner is Rupavahini (Channel Eye). The Chief of Staff Air Vice Marshal GP Bulathsinghala, the Air Force Board of Management, The Chairman of the SLAF Cycling Air Commodore DLS Dias, senior officers, officers, other ranks and many cycling enthusiasts were present at the start of the event. A total of 134 cyclists from 18 clubs were flagged off and cyclists from Jaffna and Trincomalee were also part of the list.

Samantha Lakmal (AF) placed first in the first leg while Nidush Nirantha (AF) and Buddika Warnakulasooriya (AF) finished second and third respectively.
