Pirith Chanting Ceremony at SLAF Station Weerawila

An all night "Pirith Chanting" Ceremony was held at SLAF Station Weerawila on 20th March 2014. Prior to the commencement of the ceremony the "Reliquary" (Karanduwa) was taken from the Weerawila Temple to the "Pirith Manadappaya" inside the Station by the Commanding Officer Gp Capt MDJ Wasage in a very colorful procession.
Leading priests from prominent temples in the area such as Sithul Pauwa Maha Viharaya, Thissamaharamaya Viharaya, Kiri Vehera attended the Pirith Chanting Ceremony.
Subsequent to the all night Pirith chanting, an alms giving was offered to the Venerable Maha Sanga on the morning of 21st March 2014. This meritorious endeavor culminated with all those who were present partaking in the alms giving and the Venerable Clergy being offered "Ata Pirikara".
All service personnel of the Station together with their family members, government officials of the area and civilians in the close proximity of the Station were present for the event.
