Defence Services Beach Volleyball Championship 2014

The Sri Lanka Air Force men’s and women’s Beach volleyball teams won the Defence Services Beach Volleyball Championship 2014 which was concluded at the Negombo Beach Park on 01 September 2014. Incidentally, this is the third consecutive Defence Services Beach Volleyball title won by the SLAF teams. Besides, the SLAF men’s and women’s indoor Volleyball teams won the Defence Services Indoor Volleyball titles previously.
In the women’s finals, SLAF pair Cpl Gunawardena KKGL and LAC Prasadini JHD beat SL Navy pair W/OD BGS Gunasinghe and W/OD HMSM Herath21-08 and 21-07. In the men’s finals, SLAF pair Sgt Kumara MLAP and Sgt Ekanayake beat the SL Army pair comprising Cpl Tiron Fernando and Private Madushanka in a keenly contested match. The final score read 21-17 and 21-16 in favour of the SLAF pair.
The Director Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering of the Sri Lanka Air Force, Air Vice Marshal RJ Pathirage graced the event as the Chief Guest.
