Defence Services Wrestling Team off to USA

Sri Lanka Defence Services Wrestling Team
comprising eight athletes and four officials left for United States of
America on 30th September 2014 after lapse of four years to take part at
the 29th World Military Wrestling Championship 2014 upon invitation
received by the US Armed Forces Sports Office which organises the
competition together with CISM; the World Military Sports body . The
competition will be held at the Joint Base McGurie-Dix-Lakehurst New
Jersey USA from 01st to 08th October 2014. Defence Services Wrestling
Team last took part in the 27th World Military Wrestling Championship
held in Finland. The Sri Lankan Defence Services Wrestlers will compete
in Free style bouts under eight weight categories. Athletes who had
excelled in each weight category at the last Defence Services Wrestling
Championship have been selected to take part in the Championship. Group
Captain Priyantha Weerasinghe of the Sri Lanka Air Force leads the Sri
Lankan team to USA as the Chief of Mission.
