SLAF Base Katunayake was colourfully decorated to symbolize the joining in with the Christian community in celebrating the Christmas Season 2014.  The gesture is expected to contribute towards improving relations with the community and was initiated under the guidance of Base Commander Air Commodore SK Pathirana.

A traditional Christmas Crib was erected in front of the main guard room along with a decorated Christmas tree and a depiction of Santa Claus riding his sleigh. The illuminated Christmas trees mounted on the wall of the main entrance added more glamour to inspire the festive season.

The Christmas decor was declared open by CO AEW Group Captain MD Rathnayake with the participation of formation CO’s, Officers and other ranks of the Base.
