Air Wing School Female Cadets’ Annual Assessment Camp 2015

The passing out parade of the Air Wing School Cadets was held on 18th February 2015 at the renowned Combat Training School, Sri Lanka Air Force, Diyatalawa. Major General HMHA Herath, the Director of the National Cadet Corps, took the salute as the Chief Guest at this occasion.
The Phase one (02) of the Annual Assessment Camp was conducted from 10th to 19th March 2015 under the aegis of the Commanding Officer of the School Air Commador DJC Weerakoon.
For the first time in the history, an impressive parade was commanded by the Air Wing Cadet Master Warrant Officer (MWO) 28 AWG 0116 BGSI Jayamanna representing Pushopadane Girls School Kandy, enthralling all who witnessed the event at the Bentley Parade Grounds. The Parade proceedings that included a colourful band display and a drill display were organized by the Officer Commanding Training, Wing Commander GPNC Piyasena together with Officers and the Instructors of the School as per the directives given by the School Commanding Officer.
Four hundred (400) School Air Wing Cadets from sixteen (16) schools took part in the competition for the fourth time from all corners of the country. The cadets were assessed on Director’s Examination, Confidence Test, Squadron Drill, Firing, Billet Inspection, Field Craft, Physical Efficiency Test, Written Test and Presentation Skills.
The Commander of the Air Force Challenge Trophy for the first place was secured by St Joseph’s Girls College Kegalle while Pinnawala Central College, Pinnawala and Pushopadane Girls School, Kandy emerged with the second and third places respectively in the final standings.
The Chief Guest, Major General HMHA Herath, gave away the awards for the winners. Senior Officers of the Army, Air Force Officers together with the Principals of the schools graced the occasion.
