Guwan Hamuda Papedi Sawariya – 2015

“Guwan Hamuda Papedi Sawariya” will be conducted for the 16th consecutive year, coinciding with the 64th Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Air Force. This cycle race is exclusively sponsored by Abans Group of Companies. The objective of the race is to offer an opportunity to the cycling fraternity to take part in a competitive event and to promote the sport in Sri Lanka. This race is ranked at National level and conducted under the auspices of the Cycling Federation of Sri Lanka. Over one hundred male and thirty female Sri Lankan ranking/other riders registered with the CFSL are expected to compete in this race.
   
The race will be 3 days in duration, starting at Colombo, passing through Matale, Dambulla, Puttalam, Palavi and culminating in Colombo.  It will cover a distance of 432 Km.  The men's race will commence on 2 April 2015 from Colombo to finish at Matale (158 Km). On the following day the race will start at Dambulla and finish at Puttalam   (145 Km). On the third day the race will start at Palavi to finish in front of Air Force Headquarters, Colombo (129 Km). In addition to the men’s race a women’s race is scheduled to be conducted on 04 April 2015 from Katunayake - Colombo to finish in front of Air Force Headquarters (83 Km). Both races will be telecast live by Rupavahini (Eye Channel).

In keeping with the tradition of “Guwan Hamuda Papedi Sawariya”, for the year 2015 Race too, the organizers plan to give away handsome cash awards for Individual and Group winners amounting to more than Rupees 1.4 Million.

Individual 1st Place (Male) Rs. 300,000.00 and 2nd Place Rs. 200,000.00 prizes up to 25th Place.
Team 1st Place (Male) Rs. 100,000.00
2nd Place (Rs 50,000.00)
Sprint Champion (Male) Rs. 30,000.00 and Youth Champion (Under 23) Rs. 75,000.00
Mountain Champion (Male) Rs. 10,000.00
Individual 1st Place (Female) Rs. 75000.00 and prizes up to 5th Place
Team Champion (Female) Rs. 30,000.00
Sprint Champion (Female) Rs. 10,000.00

In addition to this, the organizers will also pay a daily allowance of Rs. 2000.00 for all riders and their managers.

The final awards ceremony will be held at the Rifle Green grounds at Colombo at 1800 Hrs on 4 April 2015 where the Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal Kolitha Gunatilleke will grace the occasion with the sponsors and other distinguished guests.
