Racing to the Finish Line “Guwan Hamuda Papedi Sawariya 2015”

“Guwan Hamuda Papedi Sawariya 2015” was held for the 16th consecutive year, coinciding with the 64th Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Air Force. The men’s race was held on 2nd ,3rd and 4th April 2015 in 3 stages. Cyclists from all around the country participated in this race covering a total distance of 432.1Km. Nidush Nirantha of the Air Force won the overall Championship while Buddika Warnakulasooriya of the Air Force won 2nd place. The team event was won by Sri Lanka Air Force A team.
In the women’s race held on 4th April 2015 from Katunayake - Colombo, UD Sriyalatha of the SL Navy came in 1st and AF cyclists Dinusha Dilrukshi & Iresha Ranasinghe finished 2nd & 3rd respectively. The team event was won by the Sri Lanka Air Force team.
The presentation ceremony was held at the SLAF Riflegreen Grounds SLAF Station Colombo and the Chief of Staff of the Air Force, Air Vice Marshal Gagan Bulathsinghala graced the ceremony as the Chief Guest. Members from the Air Force Board of Management, the Chairman, SLAF Cycling, Air Cdre Sumangala Dias, representatives from the main sponsors LG Abans and the media partner Rupavahini were also present at the presentation ceremony.
