The first-ever Korean Ambassador’s Kukkiwon Cup Taekwondo championship was held on 26 & 27th June at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium. The Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, HE Won-sam Chang graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.
 
The Air Force team performed well in the sparring event and won one Gold medal and one Silver Medal.  VAW 01813 Lac Disanayake DMNP won Gold in the woman's 67kg category while the Silver medal in the men’s 68-80 kg category was won by 024527 Lac Herath HMRI.
 
There were six Bronze medal winners in both men’s and women’s categories. The Bronze medal winners were 026300 Lac Sinharage YI in 58-68 kg, 024528 Lac Thilakarathne DTL in 58-68 kg, 025053 Lac Ranasinghe RASD over 80kg, VAW 01835 Lac Wasana MLC Below 49kg, VAW 01677 Lac Gunawardana KTIS in 49-57 kg and VAW 02085 AC Aluthge SM Over 67kg.

Further, the Air Force team performed well in the Poomsae event where 43738 Lac Liyanage (brown/ red belt), VAW 01866 Lac Dilrukshini HDM(black belt) and VAW 01823 Lac Gunawardana DDNLD(brown belt) won Gold while two Silver medals were won by 024526 Lac Dissanayake KMG(black belt) and VAW 01820 Lac Weerasinghe WMPK(brown belt).

The Air Force team won the first place for the Creative Poomsae and first place for the Taekwonndo Aerobics.
