SLAF Women Cricketers Wins Division II Championship

The Sri Lanka Air Force women’s cricket team won the finals of the Division II Tournament beating Sri Lanka Navy on 13 July 2015 at the Mercantile Cricket Association Grounds, Colombo 7.

The Airwomen who batted first put up a score of 169 runs for eight wickets in 40 overs. LAC Anushka Sanjeewani scored 53 runs and LAC Shakila Kumari  scored 37 runs.

Excelling not only in batting but also in the field, the winning Air women’s team bowled out the Navy for 165 runs. LAC Shakila Kumari topped the bowling with excellent figures of 3 wickets for 23 runs. Meanwhile LAC Sudeepa Athukorala and Harshani Maduwanthi bagged two wickets each.

Sri Lanka Air Force stands as the sole gallant aerial force in the nation, skillfully projecting airpower over its airspace and supporting the operations of surface entities.
