All Night Pirith Chanting and Alms Giving at Air Force Headquarters

An all night ‘Pirith Chanting’ ceremony to commemorate Sri Lanka Air Force personnel killed and missing in action during active service and to invoke blessings on their souls, was held on Monday(21 September 2015) night followed by an alms giving for 63 members of the Maha Sangha on today morning (22 September 2015) at SLAF Headquarters.
Prior to the commencement of Pirith chanting ceremony, the ‘Reliquary’ (Karaduwa) was taken to the SLAF Headquarters in a colorful procession and was placed in the ‘Pirith Mandapaya’ by the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Gagan Bulathsinhala.
Subsequent to the all night Pirith chanting, an alms giving was accorded to the venerable Maha Sangha on Tuesday morning, which was followed by the Commander presenting the venerable clergy with ‘Ata Pirikara’. This meritorious endeavor culminated with all those who attended partaking in the alms giving.
The Air Force Board of Management,Officers, other ranks were participated the all night Pirith chanting.
