National Sports and Physical Fitness Week -2016

Sri Lanka has declared the week from January 25th to the 30th as the ‘National Sports and Physical Fitness Week’ with a view to control Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) which are the leading cause of death in Sri Lanka.
The program was initiated on the instructions of President Maithripala Sirisena to introduce healthy living through sports and physical training as well as to popularize sports among the people so as to create a sports culture within the country. Accordingly, it is expected to create an energetic, enthusiastic and healthy nation encompassing the adolescent, young, adult and senior social levels of the society through the implementation of this programme.
Accordingly, SLAF Station Colombo commenced the programme at the Rifle Green grounds today (28 Jan 16).
Air Force board of management, Commanding Officer SLAF Station Colombo, Officers , other ranks and civilian staff participated the event.
