“Guwan Hamuda Papedi Sawariya 2016” was held for the 17th consecutive year, coinciding with the 65th Anniversary of the Sri Lanka Air Force. The men’s race was held on 25th ,26th and 27th February 2016  in 3 stages. Cyclists from overseas countries and all around the country participated in this race covering a total distance of 442km. Ashen Tharuka of the Air Force won the overall Championship. The team event was won by Sri Lanka Army A team.

In the women’s race held on 27th February 2016 from SLAF TTS Ekala  to  Colombo,  UD Sriyalatha came in 1st and AF cyclists Sudarika Priyadarshani & Dinusha Dilrukshi finished 2nd & 3rd respectively. The team event was won by the Sri Lanka Air Force team.

The presentation ceremony was held at the SLAF Riflegreen Grounds SLAF Station Colombo and the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Gagan Bulathsinghala graced the ceremony as the Chief Guest. Members from the Air Force Board of Management, the Chairman, SLAF Cycling, Air Vice Marshal Sumangala Dias, representatives from the main sponsors LG Abans and the media partner Rupavahini were also present at the presentation ceremony.
