The Sri Lanka Air Force Excellence Awards 2015 was held at the ‘Eagles’ Lagoon View’ Banquet Hall at Katunayake on 03 March 2016 with the participation of the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Gagan Bulathsinghala.  This annual event is held to recognize and appreciate meritorious work of the men and women of the Air Force and to motivate them to strive for continued excellence.

Based on criteria established by the respective directorates, finalists are nominated for consideration to be honoured for outstanding performance in each trade and for their contribution to the development of the SLAF during the year 2015. Accordingly, the candidate who obtains the highest points from the selection process is awarded the "Most Outstanding Airman" trophy.

19213 Warrant Officer MMDR  Kalum  Airframe Fitter sp1) at AEW ,SLAF Base Katunayake, was named the Most Outstanding Airman for the Year 2015 and he was promoted to rank of Master Warrant Officer w.e.f 03 March 2016. 

Also, the most outstanding research team obtains the highest points from the selection process is awarded the "Most Outstanding Research Team" trophy. The team from M&EEW SLAF Base Kat won the "Most Outstanding Research Team" award.

The Chief of Staff, Air Vice Marshal CR Gurusinghe, Members of the Air Force Board of Management, Senior Officers, Officers and other ranks participated at the event.
