Basic Aviation Medicine Course for SLAF Medical Personnel Commences

The No.01 Basic Aviation Medicine Course for medical tradesmen/tradeswomen was commenced on 14th March 2016 at Sri Lanka Air Force Base Hospital Ratmalana.
Basic Aviation Medicine Course for medical tradesmen is established first time in the Air Force with the aim of developing aviation medicine knowledge of medical tradesmen. Aim of this course is to prepare medical tradesmen for effective management of aircrew personnel and to perform aero- medical evacuations in a professional manner.
Basic Aviation Medicine Course for medical tradesmen was originated as a special training since the nurses and medical assistants form an important and sizeable component of the SLAF medical machinery concerned with the care and maintenances of the health of the flying personnel and all others associated with the mission of safe-flying.
A total of eight medical tradesmen are following the course for duration of two weeks and four courses will be completed in each year.
The Opening Address was conducted by the Director Health Services Group Captain LR Jayaweera. Base commander of SLAF Base Ratmalana, Air Cdre SK Pathirana, Commanding Officers of Flying Squadrons, Officers and Airmen/Airwomen of the base and resource personnel were also attended for the occasion.
