No 06 Helicopter Squadron Celebrates 23rd Anniversary

The No 06 Helicopter Squadron established on the 15th March 1993 and MI-17 helicopters were inducted to the Sri Lanka Air force inventory. They proudly celebrated their 23rd anniversary on 15 Mar 2016 at SLAF Base Anuradhapura.
No 6 Sqn carried out a series of ‘Shramadana’ campaigns at “Andagala” Maha viharaya at Paladikulama, “Christ the King” church at Ranajayapura, “Jumma” Muslim church at Ganewalpola, “Amman” Hindu kovil at Maradankadawala respectively on 8, 4 and 10 March 2016 to mark the occasion.
Gift items were also donated to the “SARANA SEWANA” girls’ orphanage Anuradhapura. “Maharaja Gamunu” film was screened and a dinner was also provided them on 09 March 2016.
The formation day celebrations began with parade reviewed by the Commanding Officer Group Captain SDGM Silva. He addressed the gathering and thanked all who have contributed to uplift standards of the Squadron.
After the parade, religious activities were carried out in the Squadron hanger with the participation of officers, other ranks, and the civilian staff to invoke blessings on souls of fallen war heroes who had made the supreme sacrifice for the Air Force during the conflict.
The day celebration was included with sport events including team building activities, musical show and a stage drama by the Squadron personnel. The celebrations were concluded with an all ranks lunch.
