Roar...Screech...Cheer...'Flag Off!'

Engines were revived, helmets were in place, eyes sharp, but also surreptitiously roved around, the "Racers" waited for the Flag Off
This year’s flag of the historic “Rotherham Circuit Meet,” was waved today (02 August 2009), at Katukurunda. Previously known as the Katukurunda Circuit Meet, the event was renamed “Rotherham Circuit Meet” in 2007, in honour of the first Commanding Officer of the Royal Naval Station then located at the present SLAF, Katukurunda premises.
Rotherham Circuit Meet 2009, is held with the collaboration of Sri Lanka Air Force, Sri Lanka Racing Drivers’ Association and its main sponsor is Sri Lanka Telecom Mobitel. The collection at the gates will be channeled towards the upliftment of families of the injured and fallen SLAF personnel.
The Commander of the Air Force Air Chief Marshal Roshan Goonatileke graced the event as the Chief Guest At this years race too, after much competition amongst the "Racers" Ashan Silva and Shiran Samuel won the two special trophies, for the best driver and best rider respectively.
