SLAF Air Ambulance for Sri Lanka Test Opener Kaushal Silva

Sri Lanka Test opener Kaushal Silva was airlifted to Colombo after a head injury during training at the Pallekele Stadium yesterday (24 April 16).

He was immediately airlifted by a SLAF Air Ambulance - Bell 412 Helicopter from Bogambara Grounds Kandy to SLAF Riffle Green Grounds Colombo for further treatment on a request made by the Sri Lanka Cricket Board from the Commander of the Air Force.
 
SLAF Air Ambulance Medical Evacuation (Medevac) team was comprised of a qualified medical officer Sqn Ldr Himali Mendis and two qualified nurses to provide en route medical care for the injured cricketer being evacuated from Kandy to Colombo for further medical examinations. Commanding Officer of the SLAF Colombo Hospital Wing Commander Sampath Hewawasam and a team of qualified nurses were also rushed to the landing site for further assistance.

The SLAF is well equipped to provide such timely and efficient medevac and en route medical care for injured personnel or patients at a rural hospital requiring urgent transportation and care at a better-equipped hospital facility through the SLAF Helitours Air Ambulance services.
