Trade Training School Holds Sports Meet at SLAF Station Ekala

Sri Lanka Air Force Station Ekala is the home to the Trade Training Institute of the SLAF which provides Advance and Specialized Trade Training. A sports meet with the participation of the trainees and personnel of the station was conducted yesterday (23rd March, 2010) in an exciting atmosphere.
The concept of the annual sports meet for the Trade Training School was introduced in 2004 as an avenue to promote brotherhood and sportsmanship among the trainees themselves and the permanent staff.
From its humble beginnings as a simple sports meet, this annual event has expanded to become one of the most anticipated events for the year with greater anticipation and participation of the Institute and Station personnel.
This year saw the introduction of several new events such as the Javelin Throw, High Jump, Swimming, Hockey, Kabadi, and mixed Net Ball.
The event was provided greater impetus by the Commanding Officer of the Station, Group Captain Janaka Amarasinghe. The Chief Guest to grace the occasion was none other than the National Athlete and Asian record holder Ms. Damayanthi Darsha.
