All Night Pirith Chanting and Alms Giving at Air Force Headquarters

An all-night ‘Pirith Chanting’ ceremony to commemorate Sri Lanka Air Force personnel killed and missing in action during active service and to invoke blessings on their souls, was held yesterday(17 June 2016) night followed by an alms giving for 65 venerable Maha Sangha on today morning (18 June 2016) at SLAF Headquarters.
The ‘Reliquary’ (Karaduwa) was taken to the SLAF Headquarters in a colourful procession and placed in the ‘Pirith Mandapaya’ by the Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal Gagan Bulathsinghala. Subsequent to the all night Pirith chanting, an alms giving was accorded to the venerable Maha Sangha on Saturday morning.
The Air Force Board of Management, Officers, other ranks, civilian staff and families participated for the all night pirith chanting ceremony and the alms-giving.
