Flight Safety Workshop for Officers of the SLAF Concludes

The second flight safety workshop for Officers for the year 2016 was successfully completed on 13th August 2016 at JC & SC premises, Sri Lanka Air Force Academy China bay.
The flight safety workshop was organized by Command Flight Safety Inspectorate of the SLAF to inculcate safety awareness among the officers who directly involves with Air Operations of the SLAF. Officers from 7 Branches (GD/Pilot, Ops Air, Tech Eng, E/ Eng, Log, Regiment, Admin) who had not undergone a formal program on flight safety participated for the workshop.
Commandant SLAF Academy Cby, Air Cdre PDKT Jayasinghe elaborated the aim of this workshop and its expectations to the participants during the Opening address. Resource persons from the SLAF shared a wealth of knowledge with the participants during the workshop which included Safety Program Management by Wg Cdr TWKDC Dias, ‘BASH’ by Wg Cdr SSB Marambe, Aviation Physiology and Aviation Psychology by Wg Cdr M Vethothayan (Aviation Physician), Introduction to CRM followed by group activities by Wg Cdr AV Jayasekara, Introduction to Aircraft Accident Investigations by Sqn Ldr DGNB Senavirathne, Material Factor by Sqn Ldr SMAR Silva, Firefighting by Sqn Ldr NP Perera and Human Factors by Wg Cdr CK Rajapaksha. Air Cdre SK Pathirana (CFSO) interacted and shared his views while addressing the concerns/ proposals made by the participants.
A total of 29 Officers’ followed the workshop for duration of 4 days and is the last of two workshops planned for Officers. One more workshop is planned for NCOs’ within this year.
The award of certificates to the participants and the closing address was made by the Command Flight Safety Officer Air Cdre SK Pathirana.
