Celebrating the 1st Sinhala and Tamil New Year since the re-uniting of the country, Sri Lanka Rupavahini held it’s "Avurudu Udanaya" Festival at the Weeraketiya  Rajapaksha Stadium. Sportsmen and women representing the SLAF took part in sports events at the festival.

WKLA Nimali secured 1st place in the women’s 10Km Marathon whilst SLAF Cyclist Buddhika Warunakulasuriya  was  placed 3rd in the Cycle Race. The most notable victory of the day was when the SLAF “Tug of War” team convincingly beat the experienced SL Army team.
