The 38th Base Day of SLAF Base Vavuniya was celebrated on 27th October 2016. To commemorate the event, community service projects, religious activities and recreational activities were organized under the guidance of the Base Commander Air Cdre WLRP Rodrigo together with all Officers, other ranks and the civilian staff.

The Base Day celebrations commenced with the morning parade taken by the Base Commander Air Commodore WLRP Rodrigo and followed by a soft ball Cricket tournament and a Tug of War tournament. The event concluded with an all ranks lunch.

Coinciding with the Base day celebrations, a Shramadana Campaign was conducted at ‘Madukanda Dalada Viharaya’ on 13th and 14th October 2016. A ‘Pirith Chanting’ and a special Pooja at Base Hindu Kovil were commenced with the presence of all ranks of the Base. These events were followed by a Dental Clinic at ‘Madukanda Dalada Viharaya’ and a Medical Clinic at Kalesiyabalanduwa Village for children and village community.
