The SLAF men's Tug of War team emerged Champions at the 14th National Tug of War Championship 2016 defeating Sri Lanka Army men's team,  on 11 December 2016 at 'Kumme' grounds Baddegama.  SL Navy, Police and a large number of teams participated at the tournament.

In the Women’s game, SLAF women’s team became 3rd place in there Category.

 Chairman Galle District Tug of War Federation Ven. Baddegama Samitha thero graced the occasion as the Chief Guest while the Chairman of Air Force Tug of War Group Captain KC Geethapriya, Officers and Airmen were also present at the event.
