The SLAF men's Tug of War team emerged Champions at the All Island Tug of War Championship 2017 defeating Sri Lanka Army men's team, on 15 January 2017 at Gnanissara College Dharga Town Aluthgama. SL Navy, Police and a large number of other teams participated at the tournament.

In the women's game SLAF women's team became 2nd in their category.

Member of Parliament Piyal Nishantha graced the occasion as the Chief Guest while the Chairman of Air Force Tug of War Group Captain KC Geethapriya, Officers and Airmen were also present at the event.
