Annual Commander's Inspection of Sri Lanka Air Force Academy, China Bay

The Acting Chief of Defence Staff and Commander of the Air Force Air Chief Marshal Roshan Goonetileke conducted the Annual Inspection of SLAF Academy China Bay yesterday (04May 2010).
A parade commanded by the Commandant of SLAF Academy China Bay Air Vice Marshal Kapila Jayampathy received the Commander.
The largest Air Base in the East, SLAF Academy China Bay was established in 1976. The SLAF Academy comprises the Junior Command & Staff College, Combat Training School and Non-Commissioned Officers Management School which are primary training institutions of the SLAF. Further the No. 01 Flying Training Wing which is the nurturing ground for SLAF pilots is based here. In addition it is also home to the No.14 Squadron which flies K-8 Jet trainers.
The Academy moulds Officer Cadets into servicemen with character and confidence to take on the mantle of officering in the SLAF. In addition it also transforms recruits into potential Airmen to staff the diverse areas of work of the SLAF.
