A Bell 212 Helicopter from No. 07  Helicopter  Squadron Sri Lanka Air Force  Base Hingurakgoda was deployed to assist devotees effected by the floods and severe rains in Somawathiya yesterday (09 May 2010).

Biscuits and botteld water was air dropped  on five consecutive instances during the day yesterday(10th May). Also four highly de-hydrated persons were air lifted to the Polonnarurwa Hospital for medication.

SLAF disaster relief teams trained in Search and Rescue remain on continiuos readiness to respond to this type of emergency.
