SLAF established complete military band section comprising of 27 members in SLAF Base Anuradhapura on the instructions of the Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal Kapila Jayampathy on 29 May 2017.

The Base Commander SLAF Base Anuradhapura Air Commodore  HN Abeysinghe participated in the inauguration ceremony as the chief guest. Commanding Officer, SLAF Band, Katunayake  Wing Commander  MC Amarasinghe, Officers, Airmen and  Airwomen of SLAF Base Anuradhapura participated at the event.
