SLAF Athlete Nimali won a Gold Medal

Sri Lanka Air Force female athlete Corporal Nimali Liyanarachchi won a Gold medal in Women's 800 metres event at the 22nd Asian Athletics Championship held at the Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar, India on 09 July 2017.

Leading athletes from Asian countries such as China, Japan, India, Kazakhstan, Nepal, South Korea, North Korea ,Bangladesh, Kyrgyzstan, Timor-Leste and Bhutan participated in this event.

Nimali Liyanarachchi (2:05:23) was awarded the gold medal while another Sri Lankan athlete Gayanthika Thushari (2:05:27) took the silver and Fumika Omori (2:06:50) from Japan won the bronze.

Sri Lanka Air Force stands as the sole gallant aerial force in the nation, skillfully projecting airpower over its airspace and supporting the operations of surface entities.
