Japanese Donation for SLAF

The Japan- Sri Lanka Friendship Foundation donated a fire engine to Sri Lanka at the President’s official residence, this morning (24 July 2017).
The fire engine was symbolically handed over to HE the President Maithripala Sirisena after which subsequently the President handed it over to the Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal Kapila Jayampathy.
A simple ceremony to mark the handing over of the Toyota Dyna Fire Vehicle to the SLAF was held at AFHQ premises. The delegation handed over the vehicle to the Chief of Staff of the SLAF Air Vice Marshal Sumangala Dias.
In addition, the delegation handed over scholarships and spectacles for SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit, continuing their cooperation with the SLAF built up by handing over several donations previously.
A special scholarship was presented to the son of late Warrant Officer Yaparatne at the ceremony.
A special ¬cultural programme was held at AFHQ in appreciation of the donation, with the objective of making it a memorable event for the Japanese delegation.
The delegation included Dr. Thilakaratne, the leaders of the Japan Sri Lanka Friendship Association and Japanese well-wishers of the association.
Member of Parliament Hon. Buddhika Pathirana, Board of Management of the SLAF, Officers and other ranks also witnessed the event.
