With the view of extending a hand to the family of late Air Commodore Janaka Karunarathne, the Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal Kapila Jayampathy has authorized financial grants to build a new house as a distress relief measure.

The Foundation Laying Ceremony held on 24 August 2017 at Kesbewa area under the patronage of the Chairperson of SLAF SVU Mrs. Anoma Jayampathy. Members of the Seva Vanitha Unit, Officers and other ranks also participated.

This project is funded by the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit and construction will be carried out by the Civil Engineering Wing and SLAF Stn Colombo. Overall project will be under the supervision of the Directorate of Civil Engineering.
