In keeping with a novel concept of the Commander of the Air Force Air Marshal Kapila Jayampathy and under the guidance of the Chairperson of Seva Vanitha Unit Mrs. Anoma Jayampathy a Foster Parenting Programme was implemented with the view of facilitating the offspring of Deceased, Killed in Action (KIA) personnel and Disabled in Action (DIA) personnel who risked life and limb to safeguard the country from the clutches of terrorism.

The inaugural and symbolic ceremony was held on 06 September 2017 at Seva Vanitha Unit under the patronage of a Group of Sri Lankan Canadians brought together for this cause by Mrs Sandya Perusinghe. This Group handed over 11 Scholarships to the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit and the son of 18685 Lac Panditharathne TPPK (DIA) was officially fostered by one of the members of the group.
