UN Peacekeeping Medal Award Ceremony of Sri Lanka Aviation Unit MINUSCA

The 3rd contingent of Sri Lanka Air Force Aviation Unit of United Nations Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in the Central African Republic (MINUSCA) reached another landmark in its successful journey and held the UN Peacekeeping Medal awarding ceremony on 13 September 2017. Members of the UN Peacekeeping Sri Lanka Aviation Unit and 06 Staff Officers of MINUSCA Bria w the UN Peacekeeping Medals during the Parade.
The Sector Commander of the Sector East, Brigadier General Mohamed Abdelbasset Mohamed Aly graced the occasion as the chief guest and Director Air Operations of Sri Lanka Air Force, Air Vice Marshal Sudarshana Pathirana witnessed the parade as the Special Representative of Sri Lanka Air Force in this historical occasion.
Head of Office of Bria for MINUSCA, Chief Aviation Officer of MINUSCA, Contingent Commanders in Bria and numerous other dignitaries was present during this memorable occasion.
Drawing much attention, backdrop for the event portrayed Sigiriya, “The Lion Rock Fortress” added more glamour to the event, replete with traditional and cultural drums and dance items as well as an eye-catching drill display. At the culmination, all guests were delighted by the unique Sri Lankan food surrounded with Calypso music was performed by the contingent personnel.
