SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit Celebrates World Children's Day-2017

In commemoration of World Children’s Day, a
special programme for children was held on 01 October 2017 at Eagles’
Lagoon View Banquet Hall, Katunayake, under the distinguished patronage
of the Commander of the Sri Lanka Air Force Air Marshal Kapila
Jayampathy and Chairperson of the SLAF Seva Vanitha Unit (SVU) Mrs.Anoma
Jayampathy with the participation of 400
children.
This event was conducted by Mr. Upul Weerasinghe (Upul Mama) and his team on the theme of “Sathuta Pirunu Soduru Lowak” including entertainment activities, games and a magic show. Kids of service personnel also performed at the event.
School Bags, Caps, T-shirts, Stories Books and Peoples’ Bank saving account gift vouchers were also provided to all participants as the entrance gift.
In line with the celebration, SLAF SVU organized “Guwan Kekulu Siththam” art competition and winners were awarded valuable prizes and certificates during the programme. In addition to this event, 50 school children of Welikanda area were conveyed to Colombo with the view of affording them a memorable experience by visiting the capital city for the first time. Further, they were given an opportunity to experience a helicopter ride as well.
