SLAF Station Colombo and  Combat Training School (CTS) Diyatalawa emerged men's and women's champions at the Inter Unit Athletic Championship 2017, which was held on 03 October 2017 at SLAF Base, Katunayake.

SLAF Combat Training School (CTS) Diyatalawa and SLAF Station Colombo became men's and women's runner up at the championship.

Leading Aircraftman  Jayaratne KPVC of the SLAF Stn Cbo was awarded the Lakshman De Alwis Challenge Trophy for the Best Male Athlete while Aircraft Woman Rathnayaka RMKR of the SLAF Base Vavuniya  was awarded the Chairman Athletics Challenge Trophy for the Best Female athlete of the championship.

Air Force Inter Unit Athletic Championship is an annual event which is organized to improve and identify the sporting skills in the Air Force.  This year’s championship was well attended with the participation of leading Sri Lanka Air Force athletes, some of whom have represented Sri Lanka in the international sporting arena and have brought honour and glory to their motherland.

Chief of Staff of the SLAF Air Vice Marshal DLS Dias graced the occasion as the Chief Guest.  Members of the AFBM, Chairman Air Force athletics Air Vice Marshal MDAP Payoe and Senior Officers, Other ranks were also present at the occasion.
