Inter Unit Golf Championship – 2017

Sri Lanka Air Force Academy China Bay won the overall championship at the fifth Inter Unit golf tournament held at the Eagle’s Golf Links China Bay on 18th October 2017.
The opening ceremony was conducted in the presence of the Commander of the Air Force, targeting the forthcoming 11th World Military Golf Championship which is scheduled to be held from 12th November 2017 to 19th November 2017 at Eagles’ Golf Links China Bay.
The game consisted of 18 holes one round match and a total of 54 players participated in the tournament including five lady golfers. Sri Lanka Air Force Academy China Bay team displayed their skills in such fashion that enabled to grab the Championship with 79 points scored as per the Stableford System. SLAF Base Katunayake team became runners up.
The tournament had two events simultaneously with the inter unit championship as Open championship, open for over 45 years category.
The Commander of the Air Force, Air Marshal KVB Jayampathi graced the event as the chief guest. The Chief of Staff AVM DLS Dias and the members of the AFBM any many senior officers including the Cmdt were present at the occasion. The awards ceremony was held at the Club House of the Eagles’ Golf Links during the evening of the same day.
